Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

What is PFI?

Answer:

The Private Finance Initiative (PFI) is a way of funding long term public sector contracts, such as schools, hospitals and waste management facilities, which involves significant capital expenditure. Cambridgeshire County Council’s Waste PFI contract involves a private sector contractor that will build new facilities and then operate them over a 25-30 year period.
