Cambridgeshire and the 2001 Census

The 2001 Census was held on 29th April 2001.

The Census is a count of all people and households in the UK.

It provides essential statistical information, enabling the planning and funding of public services, including education, health and transport.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is staggering the release of results from the 2001 Census; the first population counts were available in October 2002 and the second release, of Key Statistics for Local Authority Districts, was on 13th February 2003.

Results for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are summarised here and this site will be updated as more results become available.

More details on what information is available and when it is due for release is available on the ONS 2001 Census Output Schedule.

A full explanation of the 2001 Census methodology, along with results for the whole country, is available on the ONS Census 2001 website and by area on the ONS Neighbourhood Statistics website.
