About Beacon

Beacon status in procurement is more than simply purchasing goods and services, procurement is seen as a key driver in improving local government by getting better value for money.

It covers all stages of managing service delivery, from the identification of needs to measuring the impact on customers.  Authorities must adopt holistic, resourceful, effective and innovative approaches to procurement to achive their vision of providing excellent services to the public.

Beacon holders are required to work with authorities that are performing less well to assist them in raising their standards.  The ultimate aim is to improve the public servcies that we all require and depend upon every day.
