Anybody who keeps livestock (cows, sheep, goats and pigs), even as a pet keeper, is required to:

a) have a DEFRA County Parish Holding (CPH) number which will provide you with a unique number for your premises and

b) register your flock/herd (even if single animal) with your local Animal Health office.

Animal Health will then issue you with a flock or herd number to enable you to identify any animals born on your holding.
