In 2012 we launched the 'Buy with Confidence' approved trader scheme for Cambridgeshire. The aim of the scheme is to ensure members operate in a legal, honest and fair way, giving consumers confidence in their buying decisions.
We are currently recruiting traders to join the scheme.
Initially the focus was on the home improvement sector, but the scheme is now being rolled out to other business sectors. As a result we would welcome applications from reputable local businesses in any trade sector.
The scheme is well established nationally and is operated by around 50 other Trading Standards Services. Cambridgeshire residents are provided with an online list of 'Trading Standards approved' traders via the dedicated website and a telephone service for obtaining details of members. The local library service is also able to assist in locating scheme members.
The scheme costs £120 to join, plus an annual fee of between £120 and £240. We also carry out a number of checks on a business before granting membership. Where there are issues identified, we provide advice on how to put those things right. All fees are used to pay for the running and promotion of the scheme.
Member's details are all listed
on the Buy with Confidence website which we are promoting across the county. You will also have access to advice from us and receive notifications of changes in the law. We will also provide assistance should you find yourself in dispute with a customer.
