We are
launching a ‘Buy with Confidence’ approved trader scheme for Cambridgeshire in early 2012, and we are currently recruiting traders to join the scheme.
Initially the focus is on the home improvement sector, but the scheme will be rolled out to other business sectors in future months. As a result we would welcome applications from reputable businesses in any trade sector.
The scheme is well established in around 45 other trading standards services and will provide Cambridgeshire residents with an online list of 'Trading Standards approved' traders. It builds on our previous scheme, the Registered Trader Scheme, which was operated in conjunction with Age UK, and was available to the over 60s in the county. Buy with Confidence will be available to all residents in the county, therefore providing a larger potential customer base to traders on the scheme.
The scheme costs £120 to join, plus an annual fee of between £120 and £240. For that fee your details will be listed on the Buy with Confidence website which we will be promoting to consumers across the county. You will also have access to advice from our dedicated advice team, receive notifications of changes in the law, and access to a mediation scheme in case of a dispute with a customer.
We carry out a number of checks on a business before granting membership, and if issues are found we provide advice on how to put those things right.
