Think 21!
Think 21 is an initiative to reduce the instances of age restricted products being sold to underage people.
Through the campaign, we are encouraging retailers to refuse to sell age restricted products to anyone who appears to be 21 years old and does not have an acceptable form of photo identification.
We are working with all retailers of age restricted products to help them to be more aware of the range of products, their responsibilities and the consequences of selling these products to underage customers.
Seminars are being arranged across the county and all retailers are being invited to attend, free of charge.
The message to young people is - No I/D, no sale.
Age restricted products include:
Alcohol
Tobacco products
Solvents
Lottery and scratch cards
DVD's videos and computer games
Aerosol paints
Offensive weapons, including knives, axes and Razor blades
Petrol
Fireworks including sparklers
Party poppers
Caps, cracker snaps and throwdowns
Liqueur chocolates
The campaign is supported by our partners in the police, primary care trust, schools and businesses and is aimed at safe-guarding the health and well-being of young people as well as reducing instances of anti-social behaviour in our communities.
