The Community Support Service (CSS) is one of a range of support services offered to disabled children & young people by Cambridgeshire County Council. CSS is regulated by the Care Quality Commission for the provision of personal care.
The service supports young people in a variety of different ways. This includes support with personal care, support post-operatively and support to enable young people to access inclusive activities.
The Community Support Service recruits and trains support workers as well as working in partnership with a number of approved agencies to identify a suitable support worker to meet the needs of each young person and their families.
When a new family is referred to the Community Support Service a visit takes place with the child/young person and their family. During this visit the co-ordinator or assistant co-ordinator will discuss the service allocated, how the child/young person would like to use the service and to gather more information about the needs of the young person. An anonymous request with these details is then sent to all of the agencies approved to work with us as well as ourselves.
A time limit for getting back to the service is set and a number of criteria is requested to make sure that if someone can offer a service, it is the best match for the child or young person.
One of the agencies listed below may come forward and offer a service and then introductions will be made between the child/young person and the agency providing the support. If the Community Support Service offers the support then further meetings will be arranged and more details will be gathered.
