Families information

These pages are for you if you are a parent or carer looking for services and activities which can help you in supporting your children as they grow up.

The information here will also be useful to you if you're a young person yourself, or someone who works with families and young people.

You can find out about the various services offered by:

  • schools (see Education),
  • the health service (see Health),
  • your local Council and the private and voluntary sectors (see Support for parents and carers).

There is information about activities your family and children can take part in socially (see Activities), and about childminders, playgroups and other early years services (see Early Years and Childcare).

Information for parents and carers of children with disabilities or special needs is linked on the right hand side of this page.

You can also find advice and guidance on things which might be worrying you (see Concerned about) or where more information could help you in your decision making (see Support for parents and carers and Parenting courses).

We hope these pages will point you in the right direction to help you find out what you want to know. Any comments or further questions are welcome using the contact details to the right.
