Cambridgeshire births, marriages and deaths index (CAMDEX)

CAMDEX is moving house!

Cambridgeshire Registration Service are currently working in partnership with the Cambridgeshire Family History Society to provide a new home for CAMDEX, helping preserve the work carried out for future use. Searching for records for free, and applying for certificates through on-line payments, will continue to be available as now.

CAMDEX

Volunteers from the family history societies within Cambridgeshire have worked with the Registration Service to allow access to indices for births, marriages and deaths within Cambridgeshire over the internet. This is an ongoing project and whilst a lot of information is available, the records are not complete yet.

We strongly recommend searching a year or two either side, at least, of the suggested year of the event.

You can now search the:

If a search is successful you will be able to order and pay on-line, or choose to link straight to an application form ready to print and submit by post with the correct reference to the correct Registration Office.

The system will automatically print the address of the Registration Office currently holding that record.

Please note that no records for Peterborough will be included as they are now a separate Unitary Authority.

If the entry you require is not yet on the system you can still apply by downloading the following forms (in rtf format suitable for word documents) and sending them through to the correct Registration Office. You will need to enclose full payment and an SAE.

Postal Application for a Birth Cert.doc (25Kb)

Postal Application for a Marriage Cert.doc (27Kb)

Postal Application for Death Cert.doc (25Kb)

Current events can be registered at any Registration Office in Cambridgeshire. Completed registers are only held (and duplicate certificates issued from) our Cambridge (for the area of Cambridge City and South Cambs) and Huntingdon (for the areas of Ely, Fenland and Huntingdon) locations.

Older details of Districts are available from the link to Genuki on the right hand side links.
