How do I apply for British Nationality?
This page explains the process and links to sites for application forms and fees
1. Obtain the correct application form. This can be easily downloaded from the Home Office website (link on right) or can be obtained by telephoning the Home Office Application Forms Unit on 0870 241 0645.
2. Follow the instructions and complete the form.
3. Assemble the necessary supporting documents (details are provided with the application form)
4. Contact our Citizenship team for an appointment. An appointment is essential and people cannot be seen without one, payment is ideally required by card at the time of booking (see fees document on right, these are in addition to fees due to the Home Office). The direct line number is 01223 714093 or an email may be sent to ncs@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
5. Attend the appointment (and pay the appropriate fee in cash if not previously supplied). The Citizenship team is based at Shire Hall in Cambridge.
6. Please note that if, due to unforseen circumstances, you need to re-schedule your appointment this may be done once. If you then cancel again the fee payable to us is forfeit and you would need to pay again.
