At least one of the parties to the marriage must either live in the district where the building is located or be able to sign a legal document to state that it is the usual place of worship of one or both of the parties to the marriage. You may also get married in another District if there is no building of your religion in the District where at least one of you lives. Please contact your local Registration Office for advice if you think this may apply.
You will need to discuss your plans with the minister or priest of the building in which you intend to marry and as soon as possible make an appointment with your local Register Office(s) for you both to give a Notice of Marriage.
The Registration Officer will need to know the full name of the building, and, if outside that District, the name of the Registration District in which the building is located and the worship number. They will also need to know the name of the Authorised person who will be registering your marriage for you, which may not be the person conducting your wedding. In some cases the building does not have it's own Marriage Register. You will then need to ask the Registration Office in whose District the building is if they can provide a Registration Officer to attend, booking is usually possible up to a year in advance and is strongly advised. If you are not sure if you need a Registration Officer then talk to the minister or priest of the building to clarify.
