This page is designed to explain what we will do for you when you attend your appointment.

Your documents will be checked, copied and the copies certified so that you will not need to send original documents with your application. This eliminates any risk of important documents being lost. You will also be able to retain your passport rather than sending it with your application.

Your application will be checked for accuracy and, together with the Home Office fee, then be sent by secure posting to the Home Office.

Applications that have been through the Checking Service will arrive at the Home Office containing all the necessary details and will be dealt with more quickly than those that are incomplete.
