Census 2001 - Housing
The focus of this report, drawn from the 2001 Census of Population, is on housing and households. In order to help monitor a wide variety of plans and strategies, the data has been published for all the districts in Cambridgeshire, together with Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury in Suffolk and the City of Peterborough. East of England regional comparisons are provided wherever possible.
The report looks in detail at the characteristics of households by three main tenure groups – owner-occupiers, people living in social rented housing and people renting privately. There are sections on age structure, illness and health, economic activity, under-occupation and over-crowding, ethnicity and migration. The report provides some information about types of property and amenities such as central heating. Finally, the report publishes the Census ‘counts’ of occupied, vacant and ‘second home’ dwellings and also covers numbers of people living in ‘communal establishments’.
The report provides background information about the 2001 Census and spells out relevant definitions – such as ‘household’. The data is presented in the form of both tables and figures.
