CEdRIC – which stands for Consumer Education Resource and Information Centre - aims to bring together the wealth of existing Trading Standards related consumer education resources in 3 sections.
For Schools:
"Ask Cedric" provides teaching notes, student work sheets and practical activities and many other resources schools need to help teach parts of the newly introduced Citizenship subject in the National Curriculum.
For Businesses:
The main aim of the business site is to inform and educate all sizes and types of business that are affected by legislation enforced by Trading Standards, ensuring a safer and fairer trading environment for all consumers and businesses
For Community Groups:
Finally, there is a community information section for adult education facilitators, community groups, and individuals.
The information for adult education facilitators includes ready-made teaching notes, activities and resources.
For community groups there will be advice on the latest scams and rip-offs, such as door-to-door rogue traders and loan sharks, so they can alert their members.
Individuals will be able to find out where to get help, as well as being able to learn about what their rights are, how to protect themselves, and what to do when something goes wrong.
Ask CEdRIC, created and maintained by Cambridgeshire Trading Standards is provided free of charge for all to use.
