Making a complaint

Extras

What you can do

Sometimes, there are occasions when it is necessary to make a complaint to a supplier of goods or services because we are dissatisfied with a product or service. To make an effective complaint:

  • Only complain when you really need to.
  • Ensure that you complain to the right person.
  • Be calm and polite.
  • Know your rights. A basic knowledge of what you're entitled to can be very helpful for both parties.
  • Be patient. Sometimes it can take months to sort out a problem. This is particularly true if you're dealing with a large business, your complaint is complex or your claim is disputed.
