National Consumer Week
Extras
market

Trading Standards Departments across the UK take part in National Consumer Week which runs every year, usually during the 3rd week of November.

Each year National Consumer Week has a different theme and is geared to current consumer issues. The 2008 National Consumer Week will be launched on Monday 17 November at the Office of Fair Trading in London.

This years theme is 'Be a Savvy Shopper this Christmas' and will highlight almost any consumer topic, but will look more specifically at the issues surrounding Christmas shopping

The theme for 2007 was "Shopping from Afar" which aimed to raise awareness of consumers rights and the potential problems that may be encountered when buying goods and services through mail order, on-line, over the telephone or by using digi-TV.

Throughout the year Cambridgeshire Trading Standards Service and Consumer Direct offer pre-shopping advice and and how best to deal with any difficulties that may arise after goods and services have been purchased.
