Somersham Nature Reserve

Night sky over the nature reserve.

Join us for a guided tour of the night sky over the nature reserve, with expert Neil Parker of Green Witch Telescopes.

Meet at the Springfield entrance.

 8.30pm
24 May Lets Go Batty on the nature reserve! A guided bat walk to discover what species are on the wing. 8.30pm to 10.00pm
5 June Dawn Chorus walk - Watch the dawn rise over Somersham and learn to identify all the birds that take part in the dawn chorus. Followed by breakfast at the Royal British Legion Hall. Walk is free but there will be a small charge for breakfast. 4.30am - 7.00am
15 June Somersham Community Games!! As part of Somersham Carnival Week we will be holding a 'beside the seaside' themed community games event at the nature reserve, which will include various beach style games, a big walkies for dogs and children's nature discovery activities. 12.00pm - 5.00pm
20 October

Apple Day at the Community Orchard

To include juicing demonstrations, try and buy different apples and apple juices, apple games, refreshments including Tom Cakes, a cookery competition and fruit tree pruning demonstrations.

Rings End Nature Reserve

16 April Annual Site Management Walk - meeting in the car park off Twenty Foot Road.  This is when we review work carried out over the last year and start planning ahead for this year's work.  Come and find out how your Local Nature Reserve is managed by the Friends Group. 7pm - 9.00pm
7 May Friends of Rings End Nature Reserve AGM, meeting to be held at Fenland Hall, March 7pm
2 June

Friends Group Launch Party, starting with a Dawn Chorus walk, followed by a Big Walkies dog walk and wildlife discovery activities for children, including; pond dipping and a 'mini beast' hunt.

 5.00am - 4.00pm

 

Worts Meadow Nature Reserve

17 April Walk like an amphibian! A guided walk around the ponds on the nature reserve looking for newts, frogs and toads emerging from their winter slumbers. 7.30pm - 9.00pm
