The Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is responsible for ensuring that the National Drug Strategy (Drugs: protecting families & communities. HM Government) and the Alcohol Harm Reduction Strategy for England (AHRSfE: HM Government) are implemented across Cambridgeshire. The team also has to ensure that the Public Service Agreement 25 “Reducing the harm caused by Alcohol and Drugs” is delivered within the County.
The National Drug Strategy has four key aims
- Protecting communities through robust enforcement to tackle drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour
- Preventing harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse
- Delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration
- Public information campaigns, communications and community engagement
The DAAT works closely with all community safety partnerships to tackle drug & alcohol related crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour within their local communities.
