Our objective
The objective of the County Council Safer Communities Partnership Team is to work closely with the local community safety partnerships on projects aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in Cambridgeshire.
There is a Countywide Community Safety Agreement for 2011/14 and this outlines the priorities that have been chosen for the County based on the research and analysis undertaken via a Countywide Strategic Assessment of crime and disorder. There is also a Countywide Community Safety Board that oversees delivery of this agreement. The terms of reference for this Board can be found below.
Community Safety Partnerships
The County Council works closely with the local Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs) to deliver the Countywide Community Safety Agreement.
Within Cambridgeshire there are a total of 5 CSPs each aligned to the 5 District Councils of South Cambridgeshire, East Cambridgeshire, Fenland, Cambridge City and Huntingdonshire.
The CSPs are statutory multi-agency partnerships and they each include representation from the 6 responsible authorities:
- police
- police authorities
- local authorities
- fire and rescue services
- primary care trust (PCT)
- probation trust
The responsible authorities come together to review the pattern and extent of crime and disorder in their local area and to produce a strategy for tackling these issues together, rather than working in isolation.
