Cambridgeshire is made up of five districts, containing a total of 60 wards. They elect a total of 69 County Councillors to represent the people of Cambridgeshire for four years at a time. The last election was held in 2009 and the next election will take place in 2013.
Councilllors decide how to spend the council's money and what its policies are, and make decisions on behalf of the people of Cambridgshire. To find out which County Councillor represents your local area, use our MyCambridgeshire service.
The services the Council provides are run by a professional staff of officers. It's their duty to carry out the policies of the council and provide a high standard of public service at all times.
The Council also works in partnership with other public services in the area, such as the Police and NHS, to provide a unified approach where needed.
