Transcript: Do Something Amazing - Views of Ely

Resident One: “If I am completely honest no I wouldn’t be voting because I don’t know too much about it."

Resident Two: “There is a lot of, well it borders between cynicism and realism, that oh it won’t make any use they will just going to do what they want to anyway.”

Resident Three: “I have voted in local elections before once or twice.”

Resident Four: “My honest opinion it is probably more important than voting in the general election.”

Resident Five: “I always think if people don’t vote they can’t say well they don’t do this and they don’t do that.”

Resident Four: “You should be encouraged more to go and vote yeah, absolutely, I know a lot of people who don’t vote at all at any level, and on a local level, particularly.”

Resident One: “I don’t think I generally do know the ins and outs of what a Council do to be honest.
Resident Six: “I would like to know more about what the parties propose to do locally rather than stuff that permeates down from above."

Resident Four: “I kind of know the basic things about transport, care in the community, kind of facilities like that.”

Resident Three: “I have lived here for a long, long while and I don’t know all the services they do so when you take into account all the new people that have come into Ely to live and the surrounding area they are not going to know are they? And so if they don’t put it in on a website or put it in the newspaper and advertise what they do, we are not going to know.”

Resident Six: “If people know what the councils can do then they might be interested in asking the question if I vote for you what will you do and then voting that way.”

Resident Four: “Because we are all effected, locally effected, considerably more than on a national level, I think.”

Resident One: “I think I could be persuaded to vote in this year’s County Council elections.”

Do Something Amazing. Vote in the County Council elections on June 4.
