Committee meetings and minutes

The County Council as a whole has overall responsibility for the levels of spending and for major policies, but day to day decision making is the responsibility of the Cabinet - either as a whole or delegated to Individual Cabinet Members - or is delegated to specific officers.

Overview and Scrutiny Committees look at policy development, the effectiveness of services and scrutinise Cabinet decisions.

County Advisory Groups and ad hoc task and finish advisory groups provide opportunities for wider input into the democratic processes.

The Council's regulatory functions are exercised by separate committees (e.g. The Planning Committee, the Constitution and Ethics Committee and other committees dealing mainly with appeals).

A more detailed description of these arrangements is contained in the document Democratic Arrangements.pdf (43Kb)

Meeting agenda are published approximately one week before the meeting at which point they can be accessed from schedule of Upcoming meetings below.

Details of decisions delegated to individual members of the Cabinet are also included in this schedule.
