The Council has established a Standards Committee to advise the Council on matters relating to member and officer conduct and to consider complaints about member conduct.
The Committee comprises five Councillors and three Independent members and is chaired by one of the Independent Members. The terms of reference and membership of the Standards Committee is available via the link on the right hand side of the page.
The Committee has established the following three sub committees:
- An Assessment Sub Committee to undertake the initial assessment of complaints alleging breaches of the Code of Conduct by members;
- A Review Sub Committee to review decisions of the Assessment Sub Committee not to act on a complaint ;
- A Hearings Sub Committee to determine whether there has been a breach of the Code of Conduct and, if so, what sanction should be applied.
