The Council's Cabinet Members
The Cabinet comprises the Leader of the Council (who is appointed for a four year period) and up to nine other councillors. Cabinet members are appointed by the Leader of the Council and each has a specific area of responsibility.
The Cabinet is responsible for making recommendations to the Council on the Council's budget, the level of council tax and major service policies, but then has the power to decide any issue which falls within the overall policy framework once it is agreed by the Council.
Decisions to be taken at Cabinet meetings are set out in the Council's Forward Plan.
The list below provides details of who the Cabinet members are and the portfolio for which they are responsible.
