Corporate Development
The Head of Corporate Development is Adrian Smith.
Corporate Development provides support across the County Council and Cambridgeshire partnerships. It incorporates the work of the policy, partnerships and organisational development and learning teams as well as co-ordinating the Council’s approach to equality and diversity.
- Corporate Policy co-ordinates key self-assessments and inspections. We develop the Council’s corporate policy framework and responses to major consultation exercises. The team also develops the Council’s approach to integrated planning, aligning the Council's Priorities, resources and performance targets.
- Organisational Development and Learning provides accredited development programmes, NVQs, and short courses as well as leading on a number of learning and development initiatives.
- Partnerships help the Council and its partners to set the agenda for the County, shaping the Cambridgeshire Vision and Local Area Agreement, providing advice to implement our vision. The team develops and supports area and countywide partnerships, including the Local Area Agreement and Local Strategic Partnerships.
- Equality and diversity ensures that the Council is an employer of choice for all, and that Council and partner services are fair for all. This includes developing and monitoring implementation of the Council's Single Equality Strategy.
- Scrutiny ensures that the necessary checks and balances are built into the way the Council works and, in particular, how plans, policies and performance are delivered both by the Council and by those partner organisations for which the Council retains statutory responsibilities. In particular, the scrutiny team provides professional support to County Councillors who form the Council's Scrutiny Committees, enabling them to effectively discharge their role in relation to democratic oversight, and to challenge in respect of the actions and decisions of the authority and other key partners, which can include supporting member-led reviews of key activities or researching issues on behalf of the relevant Scrutiny Committees.
