Parish and town councils are statutory local authorities set up under the Local Government Act 1972.
Parish and town councils have a wide range of powers which essentially relate to local matters, such as looking after community buildings, open space, allotments, play areas, street lighting, bus shelters, car parks.
In Cambridgeshire there are no parish councils in the Cambridge City council area. Lists of town and parish councils can be obtained from the relevant District Councils, which also have details of chairpersons and councillors, or from the Tagish website (see links on right).
The following is a list (not exhaustive) of parish and town councils that have set up websites.
