Cambridgeshire County Council has been awarded Beacon Status in the category of Asset Management (2005-06).
Beacon status
The Improvement Development Agency (IDeA) operates the Beacon scheme for Communities and Local Government (CLG) Office. It identifies authorities which have demonstrated excellence in a particular area and then provides them with the resources to share their best practice with other councils.
Achievements
This award recognises Cambridgeshire's achievements in Asset Management. For further information please see the Beacon Scheme link on the right hand side.
Disseminating Best Practice
Cambridgeshire has disseminated best practice in asset management through a range of channels and continues to be a consultee on strategic asset management issues for a range of local, national and international organisations.
In June 2009 The Audit Commission published "Room for Improvement" a national review of strategic asset management in local government and includes two Cambridgeshire case studies. The link on the right will take you to the Audit Commission web page and access to the full document. Details of the Cambridgeshire case studies can be found on page 66 - looking at 'suitability surveys' and on page 70 'mapping the public realm'.
