The Governor Advisory Group consists of nominated representatives of headteachers, teacher unions and governor associations, and elected governor representatives from nursery, primary, secondary, special and church school sectors.
The Governor Advisory Group advises Cambridgeshire Governor Services and Cambridgeshire Local Authority (LA) on policy development and strategic direction:
- Service issues, in particular where legislative changes will affect the management and operation of schools and the LA
- Appropriate mechanisms for ensuring effective consultation and communication with schools, governors, clerks, governor associations, professional associations and the service.
The Governor Advisory Group advises on the following areas:
- Service development
- Support and information to governors and governing bodies
- Governor representation on LA committees - which includes the Cambridgeshire Forum (GAG nominates and appoints the four governor representatives who sit on the Cambridgeshire Forum); Children & Young People's Steering Group; Area Partnership Boards and the Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee
