The Education & Inspections Act 2006 introduced a requirement for each local authority to have in place an In-Year Fair Access Protocol (IYFAP). Further guidance on this requirement can be found in the School Admissions Code which is available on the Department for Education website.
In Year Fair Access Protocols exist for those children who cannot obtain a place through normal admissions procedures.
