Here you will find information on admission to Cambridgeshire maintained nursery schools and classes.
There are 6 nursery schools and 23 nursery classes in Cambridgeshire, all offering part-time early years education for children from the term after their 3rd birthday.
Parents may register their interest in a place at a nursery school or class at any time, but must formally apply for a place, using the Local Authority nursery admission form, as follows:
- By 1 April 2011 for places in the Autumn term 2011;
- By 11 November 2011 for places in Spring term 2012;
- By 10 February 2012 for places in Summer term 2012;
- By 16 April 2012 for places in Autumn term 2012
If you wish to apply for a place at one of the nursery schools or classes you should make arrangements to see the headteacher of the school concerned and pick up a copy of the policy and nursery application form.
Before a child reaches statutory school age, a parent can choose whether to take up the place offered in Reception on a full-time or part-time basis, or choose up to 15 hours of free early learning a week in an early learning or nursery setting.
If your choice is for your child to access 15 hours of early learning at a setting other than a school, until they reach statutory school age, you will need to do the following:
- Complete a Reception Application Form for your child by the National Closing date of the 15 January of the year your child is due to start school.
- Discuss your choice with your child's nursery in the first instance.
- Complete a Nursery Re-admission application form and return it to the Early Years Setting by the 31 March of the year your child is due to start school.
Please note: completion of a Nursery Re-admission application form does not guarantee your child a place at the nursery.
