School offers for primary and secondary schools for September 2012
The national closing dates for entry for primary, junior and secondary schools for September 2012 have now passed.
Admission to Secondary school
National closing date: 31 October 2011
Secondary school applications can still be made using a paper application form. Applications received after 31 October 2011 but before 31 December 2011 will still be processed and applicants will be sent an offer of a school place on the offer date, 1 March 2012. These applications will, however, be considered after all those received prior to the closing date.
All applications received after 31 December 2011 will be considered within the second round of allocations beginning on 16 April 2012.
Admissions to Primary school
National closing date: 15 January 2012
Primary applications can still be made using a paper application form. Applications received after the national closing date of 15 January 2012 but before 31 January 2012 will still be processed and the applicants will be sent an offer of a school place on the offer date, 1 May 2012. These applications will, however, be considered after all of those received prior to the closing date.
All applications received after 31 January 2012 will be considered within the second round of school place allocations beginning on 11 June 2012.
Changing your mind
Once the closing date for applications has passed, local authorities are not permitted to allow parents to change their preference of school, prior to the offer date, unless there are genuine reasons for doing so e.g. a recent house move.
Any request received, prior to 31 December 2011 for secondary school applications or 31 January 2012 for primary school applications, will be considered, upon request, by the local authority on a case-by-case basis.
Any requests received after the respective dates will not be considered until the second round of school place allocations.
Please note that any new application received will replace your existing application and will cancel any previous offer made.
