EOTAS (Education Other than at School) offers provision to students with medical needs and students who have presented schools with D2M (difficult to manage) behaviour in Cambridgeshire.
Funding for young people who are not able to attend school or do not have a school place (other than for students with statements) is now managed by area based consortia of schools:
- Cambridge City,
- South Cambridgeshire,
- Huntingdon,
- East Cambridgeshire,
- North East Fenland.
These consortia (known as Behaviour and Attendance Improvement Partnerships - BAIPs) work to attempt to prevent the requirement for 'Education Other than at School', and to ensure that, if required, it is of high quality.
The provision is currently made through:
- pupil referral units,
- support and tuition programmes,
- medical needs centres.
As BAIPs progress, the nature of provision may change.
