Who else can I talk to about exclusion?

Experienced officers of the local authority will be prepared to discuss matters with you in confidence, although parents should be aware that the local authority is not in a position to tell schools what to do, nor can it overrule the decisions made by a Headteacher.  You can contact:

County Inclusion Manager
Carol Way on 01480 376302
carol.way@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Chloe Watkis on 01223 706342

You may wish to refer to the DCSF guidance:  'Improving behaviour and attendance: guidance on exclusion from Schools and Pupil Referral Units (September 2008)'

Alternatively, specialist teams may be able to help:

Primary Specialist Teaching Service:
01480 373794 or 01223 712442 or 01353 612802

Parent Partnership Service
(if your child has special educational needs)
Bob Wilson on 01223 699211
Robert.Wilson@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Cambridgeshire Race Equality and Diversity Service (for parents of black, Bilingual or Traveller pupils)
Bethan Rees: 01223 508700
bethan.rees@ambridgeshire.gov.uk

If you prefer to speak to someone outside the LA, the Advisory Centre for Education is a useful independent organisation – 0808 800 0327, or visit
