Nationally
Play England works nationally to raise awareness about the value of children's play. They offer advice and guidance for play providers in England. Government responsibility for play sits with both the Department for Culture Media and Sport and the Department for Education.
County level
Cambridgeshire County Council has a responsibility to ensure that all children and young people achieve their potential. Play is an essential part of children's learning and development.
District level
Most district councils have play spaces that they own and maintain. Some manage leisure centres which run holiday activities. They also have some funding for those looking to provide improved or new play spaces in the parishes.
Parish level
Parish councils are responsible for meeting the needs of the community by managing some local services. Many of the parish councils in Cambridgeshire have play spaces that they maintain.
Private and voluntary sector
A range of play opportunities are offered through childcare, preschools, open access schemes, warehouse play, play areas and holiday kids clubs.
