The Early Years and Childcare Workforce Development Team supports people employed in the early years and childcare sector to:
- gain qualifications in childcare and playwork - from initial qualifications through to management or degree level
- develop their careers through professional development training.
Early Years and Childcare Training Programme for Settings and Schools
Training courses and qualifications are listed in the ‘Early Years and Childcare Training Programme for Settings and Schools’. The programme is published in September on the Cambridgeshire County Council website. A Training Programme Update is published later in the academic year. On this page you will find links to this year’s edition of the training programme.

Training providers
Cambridgeshire County Council runs its own training provision, the Early Years and Childcare Training Centre. It also works with a range of other local training providers - details are included in the ‘Early Years and Childcare Training Programme for Settings and Schools'.
Funding
Funding may be available to support certain courses. You can read about funding in the ‘Early Years and Childcare Training Programme for Settings and Schools’. The Workforce Development Team administers and allocates financial support for qualifications.
