Post 16 pupils

How to apply

Copies of Post-16 Education Transport in Cambridgeshire – Do I qualify for help? are sent to colleges in the Spring Term. When sending out their offer letters, colleges send a copy of the booklet as part of the induction pack. For students who have not received the booklet from their college click here.

Q. How do I apply for post-16 transport?

• complete the application form and forward it to Education Transport
• enclose a passport sized photograph
• enclose payment or proof of qualification for free transport

Applications received without all the necessary information will be returned. Students who are entitled to post-16 transport usually receive their pass within 10 working days after receipt of their application. Students who are not entitled to travel will be contacted by post.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING WHEN APPLYING FOR POST-16 TRANSPORT:

Fee paying students who apply per term must submit a new form for the start of each term, enclosing the relevant payment. The County Council does not issue reminders to students who are paying on a term basis. Please ensure that you submit your application in enough time for the pass to be issued.

You must allow at least 10 working days between receipt of a completed transport application form and the pass being issued. If you fail to do so Cambridgeshire County Council cannot guarantee the pass will be issued
in time for the start of term. If you do not receive your child’s bus pass
before the start of term (as a result of sending in the application too late)
you will be responsible for any transport costs in getting your child to
college until the pass arrives.

If it takes longer than 10 working days to process your application you may be entitled to a refund of any costs you have to meet in getting your child to college. However refunds can only be considered if your child has kept their bus tickets or a receipt. Refunds will not be considered if tickets/a receipt cannot be produced.
