When can I re-apply for the allowance payment?
The allowance is payable once per financial year (1 April to 31 March). A student starting in Year 7 can claim from the 1 April prior to starting secondary school. A student in Year 11 can not claim after 31 May of their final year.
How will the allowance payment be made?
Once approved, the allowance payment is paid directly into your bank account, this can take up to ten days from receipt of a valid application form.
If I am entitled to claim for the secondary clothing allowance, how much will I receive?
Currently the amount you can claim for a child in Year 7 is £50 worth of allowance. If your child is in Year 8-11, you will receive £25 worth of allowance a year. (The amount payable is reviewed annually).
If my children receives free school meals, will I be entitled to receive the clothing allowance?
Yes, if your child attends secondary school and receives free school meals, you will be entitled to clothing allowance.
