Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service’s Day Centre at Upware is hidden away in the heart of fenland near Ely. Here CEES’ team of qualified, experienced teachers lead courses for pupils, using specialist resources and locations which bring learning to life.
Centre facilities
The recently refurbished Centre, which was the former village school building, contains two attractively equipped classrooms and a good range of educational equipment.
Upware Centre grounds
The Centre’s compact, imaginatively designed grounds include a wildlife garden, vegetable plots and other educational features, and a picnicking area.
The Upware locality is perfect for studies of the fenland environment, for both science and geography courses: The River Cam is around the corner, and a beautiful nature reserve is within 10 minutes walk. For history, local evidence is used to re-enact life in Roman times, and for “art through the environment”, resources and inspiration abound.
