We believe that all children and young people are entitled to the highest quality education which enables them to achieve their best. To this end, CREDS works with schools, parents/carers and communities to support the achievement of Black, minority ethnic (BME), Gypsy and Traveller children.
We support:
- Black, minority ethnic, Gypsy and Traveller families to access pre-school places for your children.
- Your involvement in your children’s education and school life.
- A relevant and accessible curriculum which gives all children a sense of personal and collective identity.
- Schools to work with Black, minority ethnic, Gypsy or Traveller children who have missed schooling for whatever reasons.
- Continued education for children who travel.
- English as an additional language (EAL) and first language development for children who speak languages other than English.
- Successful transfer from primary to secondary school for Gypsy and Traveller children.
- Black, minority ethnic, Gypsy and Traveller families who are new to Cambridgeshire and whose children have not yet enrolled in schools.
- Schools with little experience of working with Black, minority ethnic, Gypsy and Traveller families.
- Schools and families in dealing with issues of racism.
