Most children who need specialist support from visual impairment service staff are referred by medical personnel. However, anyone who is closely involved with a child and concerned about his/her vision can make a referral by phone or in writing to the Head of Service.
When a teacher or professional refers a child to the Service, it is important to ensure parents have been consulted and are in agreement. Equally, when a parent/carer refers a child to our Service it is also important to inform school staff if the child is of school age.
