In April 2003 major changes were made to the way Cambridgeshire funds Special Educational Needs in its mainstream schools. The overriding principle to drive the change was that
‘The funding of additional educational needs should support the inclusion of all children and young people within all sectors and settings resourced by the County Council.’
A greater proportion of funding is now delegated to schools and is therefore available to be allocated according the perceived needs of the school.
