Post-16 Education Transport 2011/2012

Eligibility for post-16 transport support is based on students attending their nearest appropriate centre so support depends on where you live and where you intend to study. The post-16 village list below is designed to offer assistance in determining the nearest appropriate post-16 centre to your home address. Please note, this list is intended to act as a guide only. All transport applications will be determined on the individual circumstances including the course applied for, distance from home address to the post-16 centre and availability of route. You are advised to check with the LA regarding the transport implications of your choice of centre by emailing:

post16transport@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

by phone: 01223 699790.

The Cambridge Area Partnership (CAP)

Please note that students who began 2-year courses in September 2010 and were eligible for transport assistance under the original criteria will continue to receive transport support to enable them to complete their course of study, provided that their circumstances (e.g. address, course) have not changed

International Baccalaureate

Transport will only be provided to a centre that offers the International Baccalaureate if the student meets the overarching entitlement criteria and there is an existing route in place (contracted or public service) and the single journey can be accomplished within the 90 minutes maximum travelling time set out in Cambridgeshire County Council's (CCC) transport policy.

Code of Conduct for Home to School/College travel

All students who use transport provided by the Local Authority (LA) are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct. It also includes pupils who walk or cycle to and from school.

Pupils who fail to abide by the Code of Conduct when using transport provided by the LA may be banned from using the transport for a set period. It will be the responsiblity of the pupil's parent, carer or guardian to arrange transport to and from school for this period of time.

This means it's in students' best interests to make sure they're familiar with and abide by the Code of Conduct. It also details our responsibilites as the LA, and those of the school and transport operators.
