What help is there?

For pupils over the age of 16, Cambridgeshire County Council provides two kinds of help:

  • assistance with the cost of transport
  • free transport

Assistance with the cost of transport

Cambridgeshire County Council provides subsidised travel for those who fulfil the criteria.  A contribution from the family must be paid annually, termly, or half-termly.  The amount will vary depending on where you live, and where you are going to.  A bus pass or season ticket is then provided.

Free transport

Sometimes a bus pass or season ticket may be provided at no cost.  Further details can be found in "Post-16 education transport in Cambridgeshire - do you qualify for help?" to the right.

Denominational (religious) schools

Assistance with transport to denominational schools, attended on the grounds of religion or belief, is not provided after the age of 16.  A student may receive help with transport to a denominational school if it is their nearest school, college or F.E. college, in the normal way.  For definitions of your nearest school, college or F.E. college, please see the 'Post-16 transport booklet' below.
