Proposals for new Secondary School in Cambridge
Extras

The public consultation for a new secondary school to be established to serve the development in the Cambridge Southern Fringe, around Trumpington, is now closed.

The Council plans to open the secondary school, as part of the development of the Clay Farm / Showground site, in September 2012 for 600 pupils aged 11 to 15. The school will then grow in size to cater for up to 750 pupils by 2021.

The school, as well as catering for the children of families moving into the new homes, will also provide for the existing community of Trumpington. The school will also provide a range of community facilities for the new and existing community. This provision will include sports facilities and playing pitches, including a new all weather sports facility.

As part of the planning process, the Council is required to invite organisations to bid to run new schools. The period for submission of bids has now ended, and the proposals are available on the right hand side to download.

A decision on the outcome of the competition process is expected in early 2009.
