Following the publication of a statutory notice, Cambridgeshire County Council has obtained permission from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator to establish a new community special school, without the need for a competition.
The new school will be formed from an amalgamation of the three current Learner Centres situated in Foxton, Hartford and Fenland. It will occupy all three existing premises and will therefore operate on a split site basis.
The school will cater for pupils between the ages of 11 and 18 and provide 105 full time places for boys and girls with a statement of Special Educational Needs.
It is proposed that the new special school will open on 1 April 2012.
