At Parkside Community College, ACiS was seen to offer a route to expand approaches to include the whole school and support the citizenship programme.

The projects that have developed include:

• a thriving amnesty group;
• a recycling group;
• a group working with the local shopping centre;
• many groups raising money for charities of their choice;
• an anti-bullying group.

The young people have chosen different ways to their learning. Ongoing discussions take place throughout projects as well as written and visual records. The young people have acquired the skills to be self-critical as well as recognising strengths in both themselves and others.
