TURN OVER A NEW LEAFLET IN 2008 AND SPRING INTO THE COUNTRYSIDE
People are being offered the opportunity to make the most of the Cambridgeshire countryside and keep their New Year’s resolutions for 2008 at the same time.
Armed with a copy of the County Council’s free countryside events leaflet, residents can be more active, lose weight and improve their health, as well as do their bit to look after wildlife and the environment.
The January – June 2008 edition of the popular annual events leaflet lists monthly events being held in the countryside from the New Year through the spring and into early summer. It is a useful guide with events for all ages, to keep adults and children active throughout the year and enjoying the outdoors.
The leaflet is published by Cambridgeshire County Council’s Countryside Access Team every year in two six monthly editions. It is designed to encourage people to get out and about, make use of the public path network and enjoy events being held in the countryside.
It is full of walks, wildlife and conservation activities, archaeological events, arts and crafts and many more events taking place outdoors and linked to the Cambridgeshire countryside. This leaflet is a useful guide to what is on offer in the county and offers opportunities to get outdoors, get more fresh air and exercise, be active and explore new interests whatever the weather.
Kate Day, Countryside Access Team Leader for Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “With all the events featured in our leaflet and on our website year after year there is no excuse for people to be stuck indoors and missing out, as there is a wealth of activities taking place to suit all ages, interests and abilities, and also plenty for children to do in the countryside throughout the year, which should please parents everywhere. As a team we aim to improve people’s access to the countryside via the public path network and are pleased to promote the many events every year.”
The Countryside Access Team produces the leaflet as part of the team's continued role of maintaining, improving and promoting access to the countryside. It contains a selection of monthly listings of events from a wide range of sources in one handy publication. The events listings are also available on the website along with information on other groups, organisations and places of interest for people wanting to get more out of the countryside.
Copies of the newest edition of the leaflet covering January – June 2008 are available from libraries, Tourist Information Centres, museums, country parks, Park and Ride sites and other places of interest around the county.
Copies also available by contacting the Countryside Access Team on 01223 717445. Additionally, for instant access to the events listed then the information can be found online at http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/countryside
