Getting Active

Let's encourage children to be more active outdoors throughout the year, get some fresh air and exercise and learn to appreciate and respect the natural world around them.

Explore Cambridgeshire

The activity ideas on this site will introduce children to the many interesting things in their local countryside and help encourage them to be more active and explore Cambridgeshire using the many footpaths, bridleways and byways.

The countryside is a wonderful place to be all year round and there are always plenty of natural things to see such as animals, birds, flowers and trees. Children can explore the area, with friends and family, on foot; or, for a faster pace, take their bikes out on the bridleways and byways.

Walks on the Wildside

The Walks on the Wildside Activity Pack includes ideas for activities and wildlife walks in the Cambridgeshire countryside. Follow the link on the left to read and download the pack.

Online Map of Rights of Way

Check out interactive online map, showing the footpaths, bridleways and byways in Cambridgeshire to find the routes available - you might discover new places to go.

Be a Nature Detective

Discover the natural world and explore the changing timing of the seasons across the UK as a Nature Detective.

The Nature Detectives website includes an online phenology education project for children, parents, schools and youth groups to record nature's seasonal events.

Through the project we can all contribute to real scientific research about the impact of climate change. Follow the link on the right to the Nature Detectives website.
