definitive route

Diversion works

Works required to be carried out for a right of way route diversion.

Carrying out work

Applicants are expected to carry out, at their own expense, any works required to bring the proposed new route into satisfactory condition, to the specifications of the Rights of Way Officer, prior to any Order being confirmed.

This may include things such as installing new path furniture (kissing gates, bridges etc) and moving signposts to new positions.

Advice

Our Rights of Way Officers are at hand to offer advice and provide details of suitable path furniture designs. We will inform you of any work requirements early on in your application.

Please note that the existing route of a Public Right of Way that is being diverted must remain open and unobstructed until the Order has been confirmed and the Rights of Way Officer has inspected the new route.

Enforcement action may be taken against you if existing routes are obstructed or interfered with prior to the confirmation stage being completed.
