The application process for a Definitive Map Modification Order, under section 53(3) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The information below explains the application process. Before making an application please read the guidance document provided (see link on right-hand side of this page). Inspection
First stage of checking applications and carrying out research.
 
Consultation
A formal consultation with landowners and statutory consultation groups
 
Documentary Evidence
All available historic, written evidence is researched at this stage.
 
Decision
The decision is based purely on a consideration of the documentary and user evidence available.
 
Timescale
The application for modification orders follows a set procedure and timescale.
 
Publication
Definitive Map Modification Orders will follow a formal publication procedure.
